Not quite as exciting as Jamie’s NECC conference in Texas, but this conference was my first experience at an online conference. Using the Elluminate software it was really quite amazing. The first keynote speaker was Steve Hargadon – from the same side of the world as Tom! His presentation on Web 2.0 The Future of Education was very interesting. There were over 100 participants in that session, from all over the world. The “chat” following his presentation was also worth listening to. The downside of this was, that it took place during the day [for us] which meant if you still have a ‘real job’ you were probably teaching at the time. The good news is that all sessions were recorded and can be viewed later. Day 2 of the conference takes place tomorrow (Wed 23rd July). There are 3 more sessions. Unfortunately if you haven’t already registered you won’t be able to participate, but you can certainly view the recordings of the sessions. Elluminate gives you a virtual white board presentation with accompanying audio and chat! Just as well we are multitaskers!

There are some excellent pages also on this blog.
See you all on the 13th August.

Hi Muriel,
Thanks for letting us know about the online conference. I look forward to getting together in a little over a week to hear more.
Cheers,
